Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim encouraged Jonny Flynn to test the NBA waters following the season. Not a good idea.
Multiple reports out of Syracuse Tuesday morning said Flynn intends to sign with Leon Rose, who also represents LeBron James, ending his career with the Orange.
Today’s news was somewhat surprising. Flynn was believed to have declared simply to be evaluated, but evidently something changed his mind.
Flynn, a native of Niagara Falls, averaged 16.6 ppg and 6.0 apg during his two seasons in Syracuse. He is expected to be a mid-first round pick.
Collins, Aldrich to return to Kansas
Bill Self got some good news Monday night, when Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich said they plan to return to school next season.
There had been speculation that Aldrich would declare for the draft, but said he wants to stay at Kansas to win another Big 12 Championship.
Collins’ return means the Jayhawks will likely be a top-five team heading into the start of next season, especially if talented recruits Xavier Henry and Lance Stephenson sign.
Aldrich most likely would have been a mid-first round pick, while Collins projected as a second rounder.
Stay tuned for more updates regarding 2009 early entries.
